The submission period for the 69th Grammy Awards is now open, running from July 7 to August 21, 2026. All eligible recordings must be formally entered into the Recording Academy’s Online Entry Process (OEP) before the August 21 deadline at 6 p.m. PT/9 p.m. ET to be considered for nomination.

Among the projects expected to be submitted is Chronixx’s second studio album, Exile, which debuted at No. 5 on the Billboard Reggae Albums chart following its release last October. The album is eligible for consideration in the Best Reggae Album category.

His debut album Chronology (2017) was nominated for Best Reggae Album and was among the favorites to win that year.

Speaking with Debbie Bissoon on Beyond The Stage in 2020, the singer was asked whether he had ever been concerned about winning a Grammy, topping charts or streaming numbers. He said his focus had always been on the music itself rather than personal accolades.

“Not as an artist,” he said, while acknowledging that achievements such as chart placements and awards can be meaningful for the wider team behind a project.

“For the collective thing of what’s happening in Jamaican music and the experience that my team are having, whether it’s your manager or your PR or your producers or your mixing engineer, the musicians that help you to make your project… you have to think about what they consider as, or what is considered as a milestone for them.”

For himself, however, Chronixx said the greatest achievement is creating music that connects with people.

“For an artist, your number one milestone is making a tough tune. Where enough people can reach people… And once you get that… that’s it. You never get nothing more fulfilling than that.”

He added that the ultimate reward is reaching listeners rather than collecting trophies.

“If you are an artist who… one of your main fulfillments is winning a Grammy or anything, winning anything, other than someone’s ears and someone’s heart, it’s like… I don’t know what being that type of artist feels like at all.”
