Organizers of Barbados Reggae Weekend are demanding a full refund of the USD$20,000 paid to dancehall artist 450 to performed at the Showdown event scheduled for tonight April 25, 2026. In. abatement sent to World Music Views on Saturday, addressing the absence of dancehall artist they place the responsibility squarely on the performer.
According to the organizers, 450 was fully contracted and paid to perform specifically at Showdown. However, complications arose when the artist declined to coordinate travel arrangements through the event’s promoter — a standard process followed by all other booked acts.
The situation escalated when 450 reportedly insisted on performing instead at Reggae in the Gardens, a separate event within the weekend lineup, despite prior contractual agreements. Organizers say this request was denied multiple times.
“As a result, his non-appearance rests solely with him,” the statement said, making it clear that the decision not to perform was not due to any failure on the promoter’s part.
Following the missed performance, organizers are now calling for the immediate return of all fees paid to the artist, along with reimbursement for any flight-related expenses already covered.
The firm stance signals a breakdown in negotiations and highlights the financial and logistical impact of the situation on the event.

450 also issued a statement via his instagram story on Saturday confirming that he would not be attending or performing at the event, attributing the decision to what they described as failures on the part of the organizers.
“450 will not be attending or performing at Barbados Reggae Weekend tonight due to issues arising from the promoter’s inefficiencies and failure to meet key obligations,” the statement read.
Despite the setback, promoters confirmed that Showdown will proceed as planned, maintaining a strong lineup. The event will be headlined by dancehall heavyweights Popcaan and Capleton, alongside a roster of local talent.
Barbados Reggae Weekend is a three day event. On night 1, Supercat, Sister Nancy, Barrington Levy performed in a Legends Of Reggae showcase.
