A powerful September nor’easter moving up the U.S. East Coast has forced the cancellation or postponement of major concerts, festivals, sporting events and community gatherings from New York and New Jersey to Maryland, Connecticut and Pennsylvania.
The storm brought heavy rain, strong winds, coastal flooding and dangerous conditions across the region, prompting organizers and public officials to cancel events in the interest of public safety.
Among the biggest music events affected were Global Citizen Festival in New York City, All Things Go NYC, CBGB Festival in Brooklyn, Oceans Calling in Maryland and an AC/DC concert at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey.
Global Citizen Festival — New York City
The 2026 Global Citizen Festival at Central Park’s Great Lawn was canceled, marking the first cancellation in the festival’s 14-year history.
The event had been scheduled to feature Ms. Lauryn Hill and Wyclef Jean, Lenny Kravitz, John Legend, Lainey Wilson, Shaboozey and TOMORROW X TOGETHER, among others.
Organizers cited dangerous rain and wind conditions and concerns about safely accommodating tens of thousands of fans, artists, crew and staff on the Great Lawn.
All Things Go NYC — New York
The 2026 New York edition of All Things Go was canceled for September 25, 26 and 27 because of severe weather conditions across the New York metropolitan area.
The Forest Hills Stadium festival was scheduled to feature artists including Lucy Dacus, Djo, Lola Young, The Marías and Clairo. Organizers said the decision followed consultations with local officials, Forest Hills Stadium and weather advisers.
CBGB Festival — Brooklyn
The CBGB Festival at Under The K Bridge Park in Brooklyn was also canceled.
The festival had been scheduled for September 26 with a lineup that included Morrissey, Patti Smith and Interpol.
Organizers also canceled The Prodigy’s September 25 performance, citing forecasted severe weather and high winds in the New York metropolitan area. Tickets are being refunded through the original points of purchase.
AC/DC — MetLife Stadium
AC/DC’s September 25 concert at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey, was postponed because of severe wind warnings associated with the storm.
The concert has been moved to October 2, 2026, with previously purchased tickets being honored for the new date.
Oceans Calling Festival — Maryland
The entire 2026 Oceans Calling Festival in Ocean City, Maryland, was canceled.
The three-day festival was scheduled for September 25–27 and featured headliners including Dave Matthews Band, Twenty One Pilots and Mumford & Sons, along with more than 40 performances.
Organizers initially canceled Friday’s programming before subsequently canceling the entire festival as the nor’easter brought high winds, flooding, elevated tides and coastal erosion to the area.
IRONMAN 70.3 New York
The IRONMAN 70.3 New York triathlon at Jones Beach was canceled because of the severe weather forecast.
Organizers said the expected conditions presented safety risks that could not be mitigated to the standards required to operate the event. Athletes were told they would receive information regarding possible rescheduling and other registration options.
New York Red Bulls vs. St. Louis City SC
The scheduled New York Red Bulls vs. St. Louis City SC soccer match was postponed because of the storm.
The match was moved from Saturday night to Wednesday night.
Newark Dominican Day Parade
Newark’s Dominican Day Parade, scheduled for Sunday, September 27, was postponed because of the storm.
The parade has been rescheduled for October 25.
Bike MS: City to Shore Ride
The 2026 Bike MS: City to Shore Ride, scheduled for Saturday and Sunday in the Philadelphia region, was canceled because of the storm.
Organizers said an alternative gathering, Shifting Gears at Yards, would be held in Philadelphia for participants.
Philadelphia Events
Several events across Philadelphia and surrounding communities were also canceled.
Among them were the South Street Fall Fest, the Philadelphia Marathon Weekend training run, the New Hope Arts & Crafts Festival, the Philadelphia Zoo Car Show and the Philly AIDS Thrift Block Party.
The Jenkintown Festival of the Arts in Montgomery County was also canceled, while the Philadelphia Half Marathon training run was postponed without a new date announced at the time of reporting.
Wildwood Cancels Outdoor Events
The City of Wildwood, New Jersey, canceled all outdoor special events scheduled for Saturday and Sunday because of the state’s emergency declaration.
The Wildwood Crest Seafarers Celebration was also canceled because of the forecast for extremely high winds.
The storm also forced changes to the North Wildwood Irish Fall Festival, with vendors barred from operating on the streets Saturday because of anticipated tidal flooding and strong winds.
Connecticut Events
A large number of Connecticut community events were canceled or rescheduled.
Among those listed by CT Insider were the Connecticut Renaissance Faire, Bristol Mum Festival, Beardsley Zoo’s Zoom at the Zoo Car Show, Preston’s Scarecrow Festival, Stafford Apple Fest, Winchester Fall Foliage Festival and Car Show, Westport’s Slice of Saugatuck Festival, Trumbull Arts Festival and Woodbridge town events.
Other events, including the Ansonia Harvest Festival, Newington Waterfall Festival and Southbury Celebration, were moved to later dates.
A Weekend Of Major Disruptions
The cancellations stretch across multiple states as the nor’easter brings strong winds, heavy rain and coastal flooding to the East Coast.
For the music industry, the storm has wiped out several major festival dates, including Global Citizen, All Things Go NYC, CBGB Festival and Oceans Calling, while major concerts such as AC/DC’s MetLife Stadium show have been moved to new dates.
The storm has also disrupted sporting events, parades, races and community festivals.
With conditions continuing across the Northeast, organizers are advising ticket holders and attendees to check official event channels before traveling, as additional cancellations, postponements and schedule changes remain possible.
