Just one day after making history on the Billboard charts, Shenseea reflected on the next phase of her career, saying she feels like she’s starting over despite reaching new heights.
The Jamaican star earned her first-ever No. 1 on a Billboard Latin chart as “Echo (FIFA World Cup 2026),” her collaboration with Daddy Yankee, climbed from No. 6 to No. 1 on the Latin Airplay chart for the week ending July 11. The achievement makes Shenseea the first female Jamaican artist to top any U.S. Billboard Latin chart. The song is also continuing its crossover success, sitting at No. 29 on the Rhythmic Airplay chart after peaking at No. 27 the previous week.
The chart-topper also earned Daddy Yankee his 31st No. 1 on the Latin Airplay chart, tying Bad Bunny for the fourth-most chart leaders in the ranking’s history. With the achievement, Shenseea joins Shaggy, Sean Paul, and RVSSIAN as the only Jamaican acts to reach No. 1 on Billboard’s Latin charts.
Despite the milestone, Shenseea says she still has much bigger dreams to accomplish.
“I always wanted to be a musician and an artist,” she said before adding, “I still have a far way to go. Like the dreams that I have for myself, I’m still working towards them and I have a long, mighty way to go.”
The singer explained that the success she’s experiencing now feels different from when she first broke onto the scene as a teenager.
“I feel like my career is starting all over again. I’ve made so much change in my business and I’ve learned so much because remember I blew up when I was 19 years old. There’s not really much I knew about the business at that time.”
Now older and more experienced, Shenseea says she’s taking complete control of her career and pursuing her vision with renewed confidence.
“I’ve grown so much mentally and I see how I want my business to run and exactly what I want for myself and I’ve made those changes, and now I’m really going for what I want now.”
The Jamaican star signed a multi-album deal with Since93. Columbia Records UK last year. Under the deal she has released several singles including Boss Up, Panic and and Talk To Me with Vybz Kartel.
