Mekelia Green Threatens Defamation Lawsuit Against Don Corleone Following Viral Domestic Dispute Video

Attorney-at-law and entrepreneur Mekelia Green has announced her intention to file a defamation lawsuit against her former partner, Jamaican music producer Donovan “Don Corleone” Bennett, following the circulation of a viral video involving the two.

In a 19 minute video statement posted on YouTube and to her social media account, Green broke her silence on the controversy, saying she wanted to address what she described as defamatory statements made by Bennett during the incident, which was reportedly livestreamed. Her video follows a series of tweets over the weekend addressing the issue

“By now you would have seen a video that has gone viral including myself and Donovan Don Corleone Bennett otherwise called Don Corleone, my ex-partner,” Green stated.

“Now I wish to address the defamatory statements that he made in that video and before I get into these statements I want to state that it is my intention to file a defamation lawsuit against him tomorrow.”

Green explained that the planned legal action had been delayed because Monday, October 19, was National Heroes Day, a public holiday in Jamaica.

“The reason it’s not filed today is because today in Jamaica is a public holiday this Heroes Day,” she explained.

Green Says Deadline for Public Apology Has Passed

According to Green, she had given Bennett an opportunity to publicly apologise for the statements she alleges were defamatory, but he failed to do so before her stipulated deadline.

“I was waiting patiently for a public apology to be issued by him on his social media. However, the deadline for that apology has now passed. The deadline was Friday,” she said.

“So, now that he has refused to issue that public apology, I now believe it’s very important to tell my side of the story.”

The attorney also addressed the legal implications of speaking publicly about the matter, arguing that she was not violating any rule governing public commentary on ongoing court proceedings.

“I am not in breach of any sub judicial rule because there is no defamation lawsuit filed by me against Don Corleone at this time,” she stated.

Green made it clear that protecting her reputation was a major factor behind her decision to speak out.

“And I will do so with every intention to protect my reputation,” she declared.

Green Reveals She Ended Relationship Before Viral Incident

During her statement, Green also shared details about the events leading up to the widely circulated video.

According to her account, she had already communicated her decision to end the relationship with Bennett on October 9, 2026, one day before the video was recorded.

“I’m going to take you back to October 9, 2026, the day before the video was made. I sent him a text ending our relationship,” she revealed.

Green said she had prepared notes to ensure that her account of the events was detailed and accurate.

“By the way, if you see me looking down, I’m looking at my phone because I’ve made some notes about the statements and I do not want to forget any details,” she explained.

The controversy has attracted attention online following the circulation of the video involving the former couple.

Green’s statement marks her public response to the incident and signals her intention to pursue the matter through the courts rather than leave the allegations unchallenged.

At the time of her statement, Green said no defamation lawsuit had yet been filed.
