The reign began in 2020, when Best Of Shaggy: The Boombastic Collection first claimed the No. 2 spot overall and became the highest-ranked Dancehall album on Billboard’s Year-End Reggae Albums chart. It has held that position every year since.

The Billboard Year-End Reggae Albums chart combines reggae and Dancehall releases.
Released via Geffen Records, the 18-track project has spent the 2020s competing against both contemporary releases and decades-old Dancehall classics—and has remained near the top throughout.
Featuring some of Shaggy’s biggest hits from throughout his career, it includes songs such as “Boombastic,” “Angel,” “It Wasn’t Me,” and “Oh Carolina,” along with collaborations featuring artists including Rayvon, Brian & Tony Gold, and Nicole Scherzinger.
The album has never made the Billboard 200 albums chart but has consistently performed strongly enough on Billboard’s Reggae Albums chart to place No. 2 overall on the year-end rankings.
2020: The Reign Begins
In 2020, Best Of Shaggy: The Boombastic Collection began its six-year run at No. 2 overall, making it the highest-ranked Dancehall set on the year-end chart.
Sean Paul’s Dutty Classics Collection landed at No. 6, making it the second-ranked Dancehall set, while Popcaan’s Fixtape was No. 8 overall and the third-ranked Dancehall set.
Sean Paul’s Dutty Rock was No. 9 and the fourth-highest-ranked Dancehall set.
2021: Shaggy Remains No. 2
In 2021, very little changed at the top.
Best Of Shaggy: The Boombastic Collection again finished the Reggae Albums Year-End Chart at No. 2 and remained the highest-ranked Dancehall project.
Sean Paul had two Dancehall titles inside the top 10, with Dutty Classics Collection at No. 4 and Dutty Rock at No. 8.
2022: The Pattern Continues
By 2022, Shaggy’s consistency had become a pattern.
Once again, Legend occupied the No. 1 position, with Best Of Shaggy: The Boombastic Collection directly behind it at No. 2.
Sean Paul’s Dutty Classics Collection was No. 3, making it the second-highest-ranked Dancehall project.
Other Dancehall titles included Sean Paul’s Dutty Rock at No. 7 and Mad Love: The Prequel at No. 10.
2023: Shaggy Holds The No. 2 Spot
The 2023 year-end chart produced the same top two.
Legend was No. 1, while Best Of Shaggy: The Boombastic Collection was No. 2 and remained the highest-ranked Dancehall project.
Sean Paul’s Dutty Classics Collection followed at No. 3, with Dutty Rock at No. 9.
Byron Messia’s No Love reached No. 8, giving the younger Dancehall artist a notable year-end showing.
2024: Shaggy Still Has The Highest-Ranked Dancehall Album
The 2024 Billboard Year-End Reggae Albums Chart had Best Of Shaggy: The Boombastic Collection at No. 2 overall and once again as the highest-ranked Dancehall album.
Sean Paul followed at No. 3 with Dutty Classics Collection. Dutty Rock moved up to No. 8, while Byron Messia’s No Love was No. 10.
2025: Six Consecutive Years At No. 2
The 2025 year-end results extended Shaggy’s streak to six consecutive years.
Best Of Shaggy: The Boombastic Collection was No. 2 overall and once again the highest-ranked Dancehall album on the chart.
Sean Paul’s Dutty Classics Collection was No. 5, while Dutty Rock was No. 8.
From 2020 through 2025, no other Dancehall album surpassed Best Of Shaggy: The Boombastic Collection on Billboard’s U.S. Year-End Reggae Albums chart, with Shaggy maintaining the No. 2 position every year behind Bob Marley and The Wailers’ Legend.
