KINGSTON, Jamaica — The legacy of the late hip-hop icon The Notorious B.I.G. was celebrated in a heartfelt way as his Jamaican grandmother, affectionately known as GrandMaGG, marked her 104th birthday surrounded by generations of family during a special week in Jamaica.
The celebration brought together Biggie’s grandchildren and extended family, including his daughter T’yanna, son Cj Wallace, Thailah and friend Lil Cease creating a touching tribute to the family’s Jamaican roots. Smiles, laughter, and memorable photos captured the occasion as loved ones honored the family’s matriarch.
Christopher Wallace, better known as The Notorious B.I.G., was tragically killed in a drive-by shooting in Los Angeles on March 9, 1997, at the age of 24. Despite his short career, he remains one of the most influential rappers in hip-hop history.
Last year, Biggie’s estate reached a landmark agreement to sell a 50% stake in his music publishing, recordings, and certain name, image, and likeness rights to Primary Wave. While financial terms were not officially disclosed, multiple reports valued the overall estate at more than $200 million, with the deal believed to be worth well over $100 million. The agreement was finalized following negotiations led by Biggie’s late mother, Voletta Wallace, before her passing in February 2025.
