Sean Paul has earned a new UK Platinum certification for his 2006 collaboration with Keyshia Cole, “(When You Gonna) Give It Up to Me.”
According to The British Phonographic Industry, the VP Records track surpassed 600,000 units in combined UK sales and streams as of July 31, 2026.
The achievement comes less than two years after the song received its first UK certification. It was certified Silver in November 2024 before advancing to Gold in March 2026. Just four months later, it has reached the Platinum threshold.
The renewed momentum follows a remarkable chart comeback nearly 20 years after the song’s original release. During its first UK run in 2006, “(When You Gonna) Give It Up to Me” peaked at No. 31. It returned to the Official Singles Chart in 2026 and reached a new peak of No. 30. The track has now spent more than 20 weeks inside the UK Top 100 across its two chart runs.
Originally recorded for the Step Up soundtrack, the collaboration was also a major success in the United States, where it peaked at No. 3 on the Billboard Hot 100. Its resurgence demonstrates the enduring international appeal of Sean Paul’s dancehall-pop catalogue.
The certification gives Sean Paul nine singles currently listed at the BPI’s standard Platinum level—the most for any Jamaican act.
It is Keyshia Cole’s first Platinum single in the U.K.
Sean Paul’s other eight U.K. Platinum singles are:
- “Baby Boy” with Beyoncé — certified April 14, 2023
