Thousands of partygoers turned out in Portmore as National Rum Day celebrations came alive at Soul Sundays, held at Hung Way Mall, with music, dancing and high-energy entertainment carrying the festivities throughout the night.
The popular Sunday event attracted a massive crowd, transforming the venue into a sea of patrons who gathered to celebrate Jamaican music, culture and rum. From an elevated view of the venue, the scale of the turnout was evident, with partygoers filling the outdoor entertainment space.
The National Rum Day celebration, presented in association with Appleton Estate Jamaica Rum, brought an added flavour to four stops in Jamaica by World Music Views made steps at Soul Sundays, already known as one of the major Sunday party experiences in the Corporate Area and Portmore entertainment scene and Big People Sundays at Ribbiz.
DJs and selectors kept the crowd moving with a steady mix of dancehall, reggae and other party favourites, while patrons enjoyed the festive atmosphere well into the night.
The two events highlighted the strong connection between rum, music and Jamaica’s entertainment culture, with Sunday partygoers turning out in large numbers to celebrate.
National Rum Day is observed annually on August 16 and celebrates one of the Caribbean’s most internationally recognised spirits. In Jamaica, where rum has deep historical and cultural roots, the occasion provided another reason for patrons to come together for a night of music, dancing and celebration.
