20 Rooftop Lounge Set to Open in Kingston 20 as Sandz CEO Andrew Ellis Expands Business Portfolio

New hospitality and entertainment hotspot forms part of J$60 million investment aimed at transforming Duhaney Park into a thriving commercial hub.

KINGSTON, Jamaica — November 5, 2026: Duhaney Park is set to welcome a new dining and entertainment hotspot with the official opening of 20 Rooftop Lounge on Saturday, November 7, as Jamaican entrepreneur and Sandz Caribbean Music Festival CEO Andrew Ellis continues to expand his business interests.

Located at The Compound, 1–3 Duhaney Drive, Kingston 20, the new rooftop lounge promises to bring a fresh dining, nightlife and social experience to the community, while challenging the idea that Kingston’s premium entertainment offerings must be concentrated in traditional hotspots.

The venture forms part of a wider J$60 million investment in The Compound, a commercial development spearheaded by Ellis to stimulate economic activity, create employment opportunities and attract more businesses to Duhaney Park.

His parents established businesses in Duhaney Park that remain operational today, and he is now building on that foundation by creating a space where commerce, entertainment and community development can coexist.

“Good businesses and quality experiences shouldn’t be restricted to the traditional commercial and entertainment districts of Kingston,” Ellis said.

“I’ve always felt that location doesn’t have to determine the quality of an establishment. Rather than trying to establish another business in an already saturated entertainment district, I wanted to create something that would give people a reason to come to Kingston 20.”

That ambition is reflected in the venue’s tagline, ‘Kingston 20, Elevated’, which captures Ellis’s vision of bringing an upscale hospitality experience to an area not traditionally associated with Kingston’s nightlife scene.

Situated above ReadyStock Wholesale Limited, another of Ellis’s business ventures, 20 Rooftop Lounge will feature contemporary décor, premium cocktails, music and a menu designed to appeal to patrons seeking a relaxed but stylish atmosphere.

Food offerings will include wings, tacos, flatbreads, burgers, pasta and seafood, while the cocktail menu will feature signature creations such as Brown Don, Henny Fyah, Black Velvet, Sky High and Pink Clouds.

Beyond its regular dining and bar service, the establishment also plans to host themed events, private celebrations and weekly entertainment experiences.

Ellis, who has built an international reputation through the expansion of Sandz Caribbean Music Festival, believes the success of the lounge will ultimately depend on the quality of the experience it delivers.

“We’re not necessarily trying to be the biggest lounge in Kingston. I would much rather be known for having a great atmosphere, consistently good food and drinks, and an experience that keeps people coming back,” he explained.

“A beautiful space might get somebody through the door once, but it’s the experience they have that determines whether they return.”

Through Twenty 14 Limited, Ellis has established himself as a prominent figure in Jamaica’s entertainment industry, with Sandz growing beyond local shores into international markets.

His entrepreneurial interests also extend into wholesale, hospitality, brand management and marketing, with 20 Rooftop Lounge representing the latest addition to his expanding portfolio.

Meanwhile, The Compound continues to take shape as a multi-business destination housing retail, wholesale, food, beauty and entertainment operations.

Ellis hopes the development will encourage other entrepreneurs to recognise the business potential of communities such as Duhaney Park, while providing residents with greater access to employment, services and recreational spaces.

With the launch of 20 Rooftop Lounge, Ellis is looking to put Kingston 20 on the map as an emerging destination for dining and entertainment.

The official opening is scheduled for Saturday, November 7, at 8 p.m., at The Compound, 1–3 Duhaney Drive, Kingston 20.
