Nigerian Afrobeats superstar Ayra Starr is setting her sights on music’s biggest night, with an ambitious slate of submissions for the 2027 GRAMMY Awards, including Album of the Year, Record of the Year, and Song of the Year.
According to an exclusive submission list shared with The Grammy Guru, Ayra Starr has submitted her latest album, Starrgirl, alongside several solo releases and high-profile collaborations for consideration at the 69th Annual GRAMMY Awards.
The submissions span some of the Recording Academy’s most prestigious general-field categories, as well as pop, African music, global music, dance, and visual categories, highlighting the Nigerian singer’s expanding international reach.
‘Starrgirl’ Targets Album of the Year
Leading Starr’s GRAMMY campaign is Starrgirl, which has been submitted for Album of the Year, Best Global Music Album, Best Engineered Album, and Best Album Cover.
The Album of the Year submission places the project in contention for one of the ceremony’s most coveted honors.
‘Heaven Baby’ With ZAYN Eyes Three Major Categories
One of the standout entries is “Heaven Baby,” Starr’s collaboration with British singer ZAYN.
The track has been submitted for Record of the Year, Song of the Year, and Best Pop Duo/Group Performance, making it a significant part of her GRAMMY campaign.
Ayra Starr Makes a Strong Push in African and Global Music Categories
Starr has also submitted several international collaborations across the African and global music fields.
Her collaboration with fellow Nigerian superstar Rema, “Who’s Dat Girl,” is competing for consideration in Best Global Music Performance.
Meanwhile, four collaborations have been entered for Best African Music Performance: “Ms. Paper” with Theodora, “Aye Kan (Are You Coming Back?)” with GRAMMY-winning icon Angélique Kidjo, “Le Show” with Davido and French Montana, and “Show Me” with Latto.
The four entries underscore Starr’s emphasis on collaborations and her growing presence across African and international music markets.
Dance and Visual Categories Complete the Campaign
Beyond the album, pop, and African music fields, Starr is also seeking recognition in two additional categories.
Her track “Tornado” has been submitted for Best Music Video, while “Wo Man – Edit,” her collaboration with Peggy Gou, is entered for Best Dance Pop Recording.
These submissions further demonstrate the stylistic range of Starr’s 2027 GRAMMY campaign.
