World Music Views can confirm that a record 119 albums have been submitted for consideration in the Best Reggae Album category at the 2027 GRAMMY Awards.
The figure represents a 63% increase from the 73 albums submitted for the 2026 GRAMMY Awards.
Among the biggest names appearing on the Recording Academy’s entry list are dancehall heavyweights Vybz Kartel, with God and Time, Buju Banton’s Too Too Bad, Ziggy Marley’s Brightside, and Beenie Man, with Eminence.
Reggae veterans Burning Spear and Capleton are also represented with Call on Me (Live) and Heights of Fire, respectively, while roots-reggae star Chronixx enters with Exile.
International reggae artist Alborosie appears with Nine Mile, while Alkaline is listed with NPT. Other recognizable names include Gentleman, with Gratitude, Kabaka Pyramid, with Rebel Music – The Lyric Tape, and Samory I, with Revelation.
The category also features Destin Conrad, whose project Roadrunner appears among the submissions, alongside Naomi Cowan and Toddla T, whose collaborative project Welcome to Paradise is included in the race.
Other artists represented include D’Yani, Devin Di Dakta, Eesah, Aza Lineage, Ginjah, Chezidek, Jahman, J’Calm, and Kelissa, highlighting the wide range of established and emerging performers seeking recognition.
The substantial increase in entries reflects strong participation across reggae and dancehall, with submissions spanning traditional roots reggae, contemporary dancehall, reggae fusion and other interpretations of the genre.
Importantly, inclusion on the entry list does not constitute a GRAMMY nomination. The submitted projects must first pass through the Academy’s voting process before the final nominees are announced.
