Dancehall artiste Chronic Law detained in South Florida on U.S. Marshals hold
Dancehall artiste Chronic Law, whose legal name is Ackeme Jermane Campbell, was booked into the Broward County Main Jail on Sunday night, July 5, following a performance in Miami, according to public jail records.
World Music Views understands that upon leaving the event in Miami, Chronic Law suburban motorcar was stopped by masked federal agents. The deejay along with members of his entourage were searched and the 32-year-old was taken to the Broward county where he is being held on behalf of the United States Marshals Service on an allegation of possession of a firearm by a prohibited person. Jail records list his bond as $0.00, with the U.S. Marshals Service identified as the arresting agency.
In a statement provided to WMV, Chronic Law’s manager, Alexandre “Bashy” Jones, urged the public to allow the legal process to unfold.

A U.S. Marshals hold generally indicates that federal authorities have requested local law enforcement to keep an individual in custody pending transfer into the federal system. The Broward County booking record does not provide additional details regarding the circumstances surrounding the allegation.
The charge remains an allegation, and Campbell is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
This is a developing story, and WMV will provide updates as more information becomes available.
