The industry Sean “Diddy” Combs suffered recently during a fight was with Jamaican inmate Christopher “Dudus” Coke at the Federal Correctional Institution in Fort Dix, New Jersey, according to a report published Wednesday by TMZ.
TMZ, citing multiple unnamed sources inside the prison, reported that the altercation occurred last Friday and stemmed from anger among inmates over reports about Combs’ living conditions behind bars. The outlet said prison officials subsequently conducted raids and confiscated cell phones from inmates, including Coke.
Coke was convicted in the United States in 2011 of racketeering conspiracy and conspiracy to commit assault in aid of racketeering, as well as conspiracy to commit drug trafficking. He was sentenced in 2012 to 23 years in prison after pleading guilty to racketeering conspiracy and conspiracy to commit assault in aid of racketeering.
The Jamaican was extradited to the United States in 2010 following a high-profile legal battle with the Jamaican government. His case attracted widespread attention in Jamaica and internationally.
According to TMZ, Combs sustained a head injury during the reported confrontation and was taken to an outside medical facility for treatment. The outlet previously reported that an ambulance transported him from the prison early Saturday morning.
TMZ also reported that both men were placed in the prison’s Special Housing Unit, a form of restrictive confinement, following the incident. The outlet said Combs had already been housed there before the alleged fight.
