Popcaan Makes History With Debut U.S. Performance at Drake’s Lavish 40th Birthday Celebration in New York

Dancehall superstar Popcaan made history on Saturday night, October 24, delivering his debut performance in the United States during Drake’s extravagant 40th birthday celebrations in New York City.

The historic moment unfolded at Lady Delilah in Chelsea, Manhattan, where the Canadian rap superstar hosted the second night of his lavish birthday festivities, welcoming the Unruly Boss to New York.

Popcaan, whose real name is Andrae Sutherland, recently secured his first U.S. visa following years of difficulties gaining entry into the United States. The development represents a significant breakthrough for the St. Thomas-born entertainer, who has built a massive international following despite previously being unable to perform in one of the world’s largest music markets.

His appearance at Drake’s milestone birthday celebration was particularly meaningful given the longstanding friendship and musical relationship between the two stars. Drake has been one of Popcaan’s most prominent international supporters, with their connection spanning more than a decade and including several musical collaborations. Popcaan was signed to OVO and released two albums under the label.

The Jamaican dancehall heavyweight was also among Drake’s close friends who attended an earlier birthday gathering at Toronto’s iconic CN Tower on Wednesday, October 21, before joining the rapper for his extravagant weekend of celebrations in New York.

Drake, whose real name is Aubrey Graham, officially turned 40 on Saturday, October 24, and pulled out all the stops to commemorate the milestone with a series of exclusive, celebrity-filled events across Manhattan.

The festivities kicked off on Thursday, October 22, when the Toronto rapper was spotted enjoying dinner at upscale Italian restaurant Mamo in Manhattan. Drake attracted attention with his fashion choices, making a stylish exit wrapped in a chestnut-brown fringed shawl as he prepared for the weekend’s celebrations.

The main birthday extravaganza took place on Friday, October 23, at the luxurious Casa Cipriani in Manhattan, where more than 400 guests reportedly gathered for an unforgettable night of entertainment, extravagant giveaways and high-end luxury.

One of the evening’s biggest surprises came when legendary American vocal group the Backstreet Boys took the stage for a special performance. Drake joined Nick Carter, AJ McLean, Howie Dorough, Kevin Richardson and Brian Littrell as they performed the group’s timeless 1999 hit, “I Want It That Way,” creating one of the most memorable moments of the celebration.

However, the entertainment was only part of the spectacle.

Drake reportedly transformed the lavish birthday party into a high-stakes game show, giving invited guests opportunities to compete for enormous cash prizes ranging from $10,000 to a grand prize of $1 million. Reports also suggested that one female attendee received a staggering $500,000 gift during the festivities.

The generosity did not end there, as guests were reportedly treated to luxury designer handbags from prestigious fashion houses, including Chanel and Hermès.

Drake also made a major fashion statement at the main event, stepping out in an elegant custom black tuxedo featuring a sparkling jacket, silk lapels, wide-legged trousers and a satin bow tie adorned with a diamond-studded “D” pin.

Adding to his luxurious appearance was an ultra-rare, diamond-encrusted Rolex Cosmograph Daytona, reportedly valued in the millions. The custom timepiece was said to feature an engraving of the words “Freeze the World,” further emphasizing the rapper’s taste for exclusive accessories.

Following Friday’s spectacular celebration, Drake continued the festivities on Saturday, October 24, moving the party to Lady Delilah in Chelsea for another exclusive gathering.
