Organizers of the New Rules concert series have announced the postponement of Miami and Philadelphia arena shows featuring dancehall star Alkaline, citing a family bereavement as the reason behind the decision.
In a statement released to fans, promoters said, “Due to a family bereavement, we regret to inform you that the upcoming New Rules Miami and Philadelphia shows featuring Alkaline have been postponed to later dates.”
The Miami show was scheduled for this Saturday May 22, at the Kaseya Center, home of the Miami Heats and the Philadelphia show was set for Xfinity Mobile Arena in June in less than a month on June 13.
“During this difficult time,” the promoter said, “we truly believed we would still be able to fulfill the Atlanta, Miami, and Philadelphia dates. However, after careful consideration, we recognize that postponing these events is the best decision at this time,” the statement read.
The announcement also addressed concerns from fans who had already secured tickets, confirming that “all previously purchased tickets will be refunded.”
While no replacement dates have yet been announced, organizers assured supporters that more information is forthcoming.
“Additional updates and new dates will be announced soon,” the statement said.
This is the third concert Reggaefest is cancelling within a week. Last week they announced the cancellation of their Atlanta concert with Mavado, Capleton and others.
For Memorial Weekend Miami will be host to other Caribbean events such as Best Of The Best on Sunday and Sandz Music Festival with Shenseea on Sunday.
