Update: The Numbers Are In For Vybz Kartel’s God & Time

Vybz Kartel's God & Time is the highest charting dancehall album so far this year

Four weeks after its release, Vybz Kartel’s God & Time has accumulated nearly 6,000 album-equivalent units, as the Jamaican dancehall artist’s latest project continues to draw streams following its debut in June.

Data obtained exclusively by World Music Views from Luminate show that God & Time, released on June 5, debuted at No. 6 on Billboard’s Reggae Albums chart in the week of June 20, 2026.

The album generated 3,489 album-equivalent units globally during its opening week, underpinned by 4.9mn on-demand streams and 617 pure album sales. The latter were driven primarily by digital purchases.

Since its release, God & Time has generated 7.6mn on-demand streams worldwide, comprising about 3.9mn premium streams and 3.6mn ad-supported streams. Together with pure sales, those streams brought the album’s cumulative total to 5,957 album-equivalent units as of June 26.

Album-equivalent units are intended to provide a common measure across an industry in which consumption has shifted substantially from purchases towards streaming. Billboard’s methodology applies different weightings depending on the type of stream: 1,000 premium on-demand streams, or 2,500 ad-supported streams, are treated as the equivalent of one album sale.

The figures illustrate the increasingly fragmented economics of recorded music, where millions of streams can translate into a comparatively modest number of album-equivalent units under chart-accounting formulas.

Luminate, formerly known as MRC Data, is Billboard’s data partner and supplies the sales and streaming information used to compile its charts. The entertainment analytics company has tracked US music consumption since 1991 and expanded its global coverage in 2019, collecting data across major streaming and sales platforms.

Correction

An earlier version of this article incorrectly described the album’s first-week sales and streaming figures as US totals. The streaming figures supplied by Luminate reflect global consumption. The article has been corrected accordingly.

The initial first-week projections previously published by World Music Views remain unchanged. We are awaiting updated US-specific consumption figures from our data source.
